Switching From ClickForms for UAD 3.6? Here's what actually changes.

Here's the thing nobody says plainly enough: Bradford Technologies is not adding UAD 3.6 to ClickFORMS. It made a deliberate call to leave ClickFORMS as-is and build something separate — a new platform called NightHawk — for UAD 3.6 specifically. As of this writing NightHawk is still in active beta with no announced general-availability date, though current ClickFORMS members get priority access and free use of it through 2026.

So if you're on ClickFORMS today asking "how do I get UAD 3.6 support," the honest answer from your own vendor is: you don't, in ClickFORMS. You either move to their new, still-beta product, or you move somewhere else. That's a real decision point, not a routine update — worth treating as one.

Why this is a bigger decision than it looks

A normal software update keeps your muscle memory — same shortcuts, same layout, new fields added underneath. This isn't that. NightHawk is described by Bradford itself as a different approach to the whole problem, explicitly moving away from the "form-filler" model ClickFORMS has run on for years. That's not a knock on Bradford — it's their own stated reasoning for building something new instead of retrofitting the old product. But it does mean the workflow you've had for years is not what's waiting for you on the other side of November 2, 2026, no matter which vendor you choose.

And "still in beta, no GA date" matters on a hard deadline. If NightHawk isn't fully rolled out to your firm before the mandate lands, you need to know what your fallback is — which makes this the moment to actually look at alternatives, not something to defer until closer to the date.

The real reason people stick with a vendor even when the product changes underneath them

The pull toward staying is rarely "I compared my options and chose this." It's usually "I already have a relationship here" — same support line, same billing, same account rep who knows my firm. That's a legitimate reason to prefer continuity in a normal year. It's a much weaker reason when the "continuity" on offer is actually a brand-new, unreleased product built on a different philosophy than the one you learned.

Put plainly: the switching cost between "Bradford's new unreleased platform" and "any other UAD 3.6 platform" is close to zero right now, because you're relearning a UI either way. The version of this decision where staying with your current vendor is obviously cheaper doesn't really exist this time.

What else appraisers are actually looking at

Aivre gets brought up most often in these threads — it was the first vendor to earn GSE verification for UAD 3.6, and that head start bought it real trust with appraisers evaluating options early. It's offering free access with discounted rates for people who lock in ahead of the deadline, and small offices doing collaborative work generally speak well of it.

It's not friction-free. The sketch tool is the recurring complaint — described as noticeably slower than what appraisers are used to, with specific pain points like handling an open-to-below on a second floor, plus a hotkey layout that takes real relearning time. There's also a data-use question worth reading for yourself: some newer AI-forward platforms reserve rights to use appraiser data for model training. That's a term to actually read before committing a firm's data, not something to assume either way.

None of that makes Aivre wrong for your office — just a reminder that "the one people are talking about" and "the right fit for you" aren't automatically the same thing. Test the sketch workflow against your own floor plans before deciding.
